Running An Out Of Home Business

Posted by Jasmine Ash on

When I first started my business I never thought about the positives and negatives of running a business from out of my home, I don't think many people do think about it once they have a dream and an idea in their head, they just run with it.

The problem with running a business out of your home is there is no separation from your work, it's always there which makes it hard to have any down time because it's always there to remind you that your time could be better spent working.

The lack of space also becomes a factor because my business stock and items take up so much room!

It can be hard to separate your home life from your business when it is ran from inside your home, I myself struggle with letting myself have down time because my mind is always going; new ideas always come to mind so then I feel I have to act on it before someone else does or I can't stop thinking about it so I end up talking myself into working.

I often find myself up at all hours filling orders, making stock, editing photos or editing the website. I guess you could say it sometimes feels like I never close for the night like a regular store does.

Unlike my regular job outside of my home I have the luxury of going to work then coming home when I'm finished and that's it I'm done for the day I don't have to give it another thought.

Don't get me wrong running a business from home has it's advantages such as; not having to travel to and from my place of business which saves me so much time being stuck in traffic, being able to rush through last minute orders for my customers, being able to act on a sudden idea or surge of inspiration and so on.

One of my favourite perks of running my business from home is my house always smells amazing and I can steal a sneaky bath bomb for a relaxing bath whenever I please.

Despite the struggles of running my business from out of my home I wouldn't change it for the world because I love what I do.

Thank you for taking the time to read. ♡ Jazzy
