Bath Bomb Ingredient Spotlight - Part Five

Posted by Jasmine Ash on

I thought it would be helpful if I release a series of blogs explaining why we use particular ingredients and what benefits they add to our bath bombs.

Today's spotlight ingredient is Polysorbate 80.

Polysorbate 80 is a natural vegetable sourced emulsifier which creates solubility between water based ingredients and oil based ingredients, which means it helps oil mix with water rather than float on top of the water.

Without Polysorbate the oils in bath products wouldn't mix into the water it would float on the top instead and cause the colours in the bath bombs to stick to you and your bath.

Polysorbate 80 is used in many products such as; lotions, body washes, hair creams, lip gloss, scrubs, conditioners, bath bombs, shampoos, and body sprays/linen sprays.

It is also used in many foods.

We mainly use Polysorbate 80 oil in our bath bombs to allow the water and oils to mix together.

I hope that you enjoy learning about each ingredient we use in our bath bombs.
